Exhibition
"One More Dance"

This is the title of our exhibition from May 27th to July 13th 2003 in the town museum "Wilhelmsburg" in Hilchenbach near Siegen/Northrhine-Westfalia. It's a show about the artists and performers of "Kultur Pur", a wellknown music festival on the Giller near Hilchenbach (June 5th - 9th).
"One More Dance" is one of the songs Esther and Abi Ofarim earned a lot of applause in each of their celebrated concerts during the Sixties. After their divorce in 1969 Esther went successfully solo and is now back on the scene again - with Jewish songs, but also songs of The Beatles and Leonard Cohen. This year she is one of the pop icones performing on "Kultur Pur": Her appearance on stage in the Big Tent on Saturday, 7th of June surely is one of the festival highlights. You may find Esther Ofarim in our exhibition for example shown on a concert poster from 1998 (a photo together with his husband Abi), we present music magazines or, a curiousity , the singer as a cover girl on a romantic novel.
Please wait patiently - pictures will appear soon...

The previous day on "Kultur Pur" (Fryday 6th of June) Manfred Mann's Earth Band will be seen on stage. In our exhibition we accompany the musicians through four decades. From the days in the sixties, when they belong to the first league beatbands with titles like "Do Wah Diddy", "Pretty Flamingo" or "Mighty Quinn" to the big hits of the seventies e.g. "Davy's On The Road Again" or "Blinded By The Light" to the works of today.

In the Late Night Show on Saturday, 7th of June, just following Esther Ofarim, one of the big shouters in rock history will appear on stage: Roger Chapman. He started in the sixties with "Family" to found "The Streetwalkers" and "The Shortlists" late on. His smashing single hit was the Mike Oldfield song "Shadow On The Wall".

One should be careful to use words like "legends". But there is one band you may use this term for: "The Puhdys", founded at the end of the sixties in the former German Democratic Republic they became leading figures in the music scene of the GDR. The covers of their LPs reveal the changes in their music - but the popularity never suffered from that.. A jewel in our exhibition is a signed e-guitar, given to us by the teacher and musician Dietmar Voelker from Siegen. Since 1964 he knows Dieter Hertrampf (Puhdys) - and we will tell their story in the Wilhelmsburg.

One of the monumental works in rock history is "The Wall" by Pink Floyd. It was put on stage as a dance theater by the young ballet-director Mario Schroeder and is shown on June 8th. You will meet "The Wall" and "Pink Floyd" in our exhibition as well.
On June 9th Hubert von Goisern presents a mixture of alpenrock and worldmusic. His story is documented in our show too.
