Waldeck - the ”stepping stone of career“ | Foreign Artists

For the first time ever the history of Burg Waldeck - www.burg-waldeck.de - in the Hunsrück region/Southwest Germany has been completely written down in a book: Starting in 1911, when the first meeting of members of the ”Wandervogel“-movement took place, the oppression by the Nazis, the rebirth after World War II and the legendary folk festivals in the Sixties up
to this day. We attended the release party for the book in Mainz; Hein Kröher, member of the best known German folk duo Hein & Oss, signed our copy. The picture shows him with Mary.
Nearly 78 years of age the twins Hein & Oss are still yardsticks for the younger generation; in Mainz they had an impressive performance. The lps ”Soldatenlieder“ and ”Songs Of The World“ were recorded in the Sixties.

Not only Waldeck-veterans as Bömmes, Black and Goly but also young groups performed on stage during the release party – for example ”Hotel Ost“ playing Klezmer music.

Peter Rohland was one of the motors behind the Waldeck-festivals, but he died in 1966. This 5-lp-box has been released in the 1980s, the eps (= singles with 2 songs on each side) are out of the sixties.
