The first Burg Herzberg Festival (near Alsberg, Germany) was orgenized by the band The Petards and took place a year before Woodstock. Up to 1973 and again from 1991 on especially band of the progressive scene performed here. Bands of the 1. German Underground Festival 1970 – besides The Petards – were for example Guru Guru, Amon Düül, Eternal Light and Can. During the past 17 years these bands played Burg Herzberg (among others): Birth Control, Caravan, Colosseum, Eric Burdon, Hawkwind, Porcupine Tree, Ten Years After, Van der Graaf Generator and Ougenweide. Young hippies and those remaining young will come together this year on Burg Herzberg Festival from July 17th to July 20th.
