| He never stood in the spot-light, though he played with Rolling Stones, The Beatles, The Kinks and The Who – just to mention the four big British beat bands. Even after leaving for the USA playing the piano for Jefferson Airplane on stage in Woodstock, he was just the session musician. Now the English singer/songwriter Julian Dawson pays attention to Nicky Hopkins, who died in 1994: It took him about ten years of work to talk to musicians, friends and familiy members; to select facts, stories and photos of the great piano player – now his book about Nicky Hopkins is out in Germany. |
